Interesting article about private civil legal work being outsourced to India trained lawyers. Why not, really. India is a common law jurisdiction and much of the work is probably international in flavor. http://money.cnn.com/2004/10/14/news/economy/lawyer_outsourcing/index.htm This is coupled with a new (effective January 20, 2005) hac pro vice rule here in New Mexico, specifically ALLOWING lawyers admitted in foreign countries to appear in New Mexico civil cases.
Outsourcing of lawyer jobs. Hmmm. Doesn't affect me. I'm an IT worker. The politicians look at IT jobs the same way. IT outsourcing? Hmmm. Doesn't affect my politician job. Since many (most?) of our politicians are lawyers, do you think this is finally the wake-up call that will get them motivated to take affirmative action against the outsourcing problem?
