I noticed that some readers speak of "no need to resort" to calling names and making offensive gestures towards others.

Yet, there is a clear double standard with posters on this site.

I love the read good debates on subjects but things always take a turn for the worst and personal insult and diatribes become the "platillo del dia".

Sr. Fred Wilkinson, has touched upon a interesting discovery, probably not the first but interesting enough to see a different view on REGIONAL ACCREDITED DEGREES and the validity outside of the U.S.

The "exchange" is interesting on Mr. Wikinsons topic, but then it becomes damaged with "your island this and your island that." Or maybe you would be speaking German. (if germany does not run low of fuel we will all be speaking german).

The same thing happen with Uncle Janko and me; on the posts about, Sr. Sephardic and his "nerve" to launch an ambitious project out of Africa and Latin America. I give this project a benefit of the doubt and since it goes against the grain or the "flow" of some posters (not the BOARD OF THIS FORUM, PLEASE UNDERSTAND ME, THIS).........then it turns from a reasonable debate or exchange of ideas into insults, very pitiful for a Regional Accredited Degree holder.

Every sentence of the poster has to be followed with "my degree is regionally accredited" as if this gives some special weight to ask deeper probing questions or maybe this is needed to justify the opinion being expressed.

Does this mean for the other six billions of humans on the earth their views are junk trash?

For the holder of a Regionally Accredited Degree it's clear the system for evaluating degrees is a good one; but its simple to see the standards used in the United States are not effective. Its effective for the holders of the R.A. degree, but for the other larger percentage of student body population its not. Of course I expect each holder of the R.A. designation to JUMP up and curse me; I don't care, R.A., N.A., S.A., or what ever else is meaning less where I live. It would be "shot down" in court if something like this were proposed in legislation, that the Government of a country cannot handle a NATIONAL system of recognition, using ONE format.

This whole idea of R.A./S.A./N.A./ degrees is creating a rift in education not brining it together.

No wonder the USA has this big problem with Degree Mills and probably the biggest buyer of false credentials are americans.

One of many problems of the american government is, its to big to adapt to change in a expedited fashion. Its slow, its all about BIG GOVERNMENT.

Instead of the american congress worrying about Kennedy-Western and St Regis...etc........there should be a change in the way, american accreditation standards operate.

Close the Kennedy-Western and others, and some other "school" will replace it.

How can a state grant a license to a school like Kennedy Western and other states simply say "alas, this is worthless piece of paper." This is saying that the state that granted the license might as well be a foreign country.

    THIS IS AN ABSURD POLICY

What is the difference with having a private company doing accreditation for you?

    RECOGNITION IS A GOVERNMENT RESPONSABILITY.

There are excellent educational services outside of the United States.

Other countries in the world have citizens that are capable of offering quality education.

Regional Accreditation, if it is KING, then you might as well cut the jugular vein of american education...................basically all other inferior accredition standards should then be considered DIPLOMA MILL DEGREES in other countries because practically it is inside of america.

Much of that particular dialogue was simply in good humor. We were bantering back and forth. However, if people are "perceiving" that a real argument is going on, then I will henceforth be more cautious in how I banter because "perception is reality in the eye of the beholder."

Regional accreditation is the gold standard of the American educational system -- and it will remain so, even to the chagrin of many. Just because other countries run their educational institutions with their Federal governments does not mean that the United States should do so.

    not you again

    Dear Me Again,

I extend my apologies for not picking up on the "banter". Guess I rushed to conclusions.

No "chagrin" on my part about the american gold standard. No way to deny the quality of education america provides.

My observation is the way the gold standard is run and the way many that write always include the "my degree is.................." as a matter of justification of what they write.

    Imagine this;

President Bush and President "X" in a diplomatic meeting and the introduction from President Bush is:

"I hold a Regional Accredited Degree" which makes mine a real degree versus others who have a national accredited degree which is actually inferior in acceptence to my regional accredited degree not to mention the degree holders at the bottom of the food chain that have state accredited degrees which for your information President "X" can actually be one of two things; a degree from a state licensed university or a outright Degree Mill."

But, Mr. President that is neither here nor there........Mr. President "X", has your degree been evaluated as comparable to a R.A. Degree?

    :D : :D :D
