Ministry raises alarm over fake foreign degrees "She also pointed that under the present rules, ministry would not accept foreign degrees acquired through online colleges, postal courses and part-time studies. ..."
UAE and fake degrees Well, now, this opens up a whole new kettle of fish! The Ministry of Education, which oversees the secondary school system and the military schools, has not accepted DL degrees for some time, and in fact many teachers had their pay cut to BA level last year when it was discovered that their MA's were earned at a distance. However, the Ministry of Higher Education, which oversees the tertiary institutions, up to this point, has been accepting DL degrees. My uni, and others in the country, accept them as approved when hiring faculty. This is the first that I've heard of the MHE now not accepting DL degrees. I'll bring this in to work on Saturday and see if anyone else has heard anything. This could change our recruiting strategies for next year a bit. Thanks for the heads up, oxpecker! Cheers, Adrienne
after re-read of article... I think that this still might not apply to expat faculty at unis here. The tone of the article seems to be directed toward national students who study for a uni degree, and then want to work in the government upon graduation. Will investigate! Cheers, Adrienne
