I can't get the link to open as quoted here.

Can you please post a summary? ... what do they refer to as a 'credential'? Thanks

    Works fine for me.

Maybe the Internet is down in Victoria today.

    Cheers,

Thanks George, your politeness is so comforting and assuring.

I was not the only one who could not access it beyond Victoria and beyond Australia.

It a long overdue piece of legislation and I hope it is copied nationally. For those who still can't access it, I have been provided with a copy which states in part:

    1. Job seekers who use false CVs or qualifications to get work now face the risk of criminal charges.

    2. Under new state laws which have just been introduced, offenders can be charged with deception for attempting to fraudulently obtain income using false references or qualifications.

    3. While police say the new laws are designed for more serious fraud such as embezzlement or creating fake identities for terrorism, the legislation also covers fake resumes used for employment, such as those of university lecturers, executives and accountants.

    4. Sen-Sgt Schrader said the legislation also covered using the identity of another person and possessing or selling material to produce a fake identity.

It would appear that [4] could cover the sale of false degrees - interesting concept ...

Well, lookie here! Yet another Victorian without a sense of humour. And we all know why. Just because there isn't a Victorian team in the Grand Final this year, there's no need to be snakey Peter....

    Chill,

    George

(What's that I hear? Yes, you are correct, there is a South Australian team in the Grand Final this year :p )

Works fine for me as well.

It's interesting that resume falsification is a problem elsewhere. I guess nowhere is immune to liars and cheats.

It's a global problem Tom, and my research is uncovering some fascinating facts. Worldwide, it is suggested that on average, 15-17% of all resumes presented for employment purposes contain some falsehoods regarding qualifcations earned. Now, how does one define 'falsehoods'? Well, the data does not differentiate between qualifications, and detail is scare. Nonetheless, it makes one think.

    Cheers,

Do you have another Victorian who talks to you? So there are 2 of us? Remarkable ...

Yeah I hear that SA has a team next weekend! ... but you have to come over here to play it :D - isn't your ground up to it? But you will be playing a local team who disliked the weather here, but are really still local.

Well, I am exiting the State for the Grand Final for sleepy South Australia to dodge the mob - hope you blokes remember to change the air in your tyres to Victorian air at the border :D ... we have anti-contamination laws over here.

Now thats the old Peter I remember. Had you caffeine fix for the morning now?

FYI the legislation is called the Criminal Law Consolidation Identity Theft Amendment Bill. I have just been on the phone with Ian Leader-Elliott, Acting Dean for the Faculty of Law at the University of Adelaide (the one who was interviewed for the article). I am meeting him at 2.30pm today and getting hold of a copy. He reckons it wont be on Austlii yet, but try the SA Parliament site, go to Bills and then Upperhouse.

    Cheers,

    George

Well actually I had some cut glass and some barbed wire, and just abused a moral who tried to tak my parking space - SA plates I noticed :D :D but could have been NSW - any difference?

I think that the law is overdue and it is a smart way to address the issue which is a lot clearer here as we don't have the RA-NonRA issues on the other 99.999% of people on this board- the ones ignoring this posting ;)

I am off now to interview someone now who quoted an MAcc from RMIT and tenure at my old TAFE - the latter have never heard of her and on inquiry RMIT turns out to be Monash, and the MAcc which RMIT based on the UNE model only ran for 2-3 years and not at the dates she lists, and the Monash Masters she now says that is enrolled in is not yet complete as the research is not even approved of - and it is a Master of Business Systems [research] which I can't find anywhere. Can I send her to you for punishment?

Not quite as bad as the senior bank executive with the [fake] Berkley PhD - the bank had paid for his travel costs to US I understand for his compulsory attendance...I wonder what he did over there?
