It's been years since I seriously looked into these (lst one I used was BibleWorks 3.0), but given the high percentage of Bible scholars on the board, perhaps anyone who has used any of the higher-end products could give some advice re "real world" use of BibleWorks vs. Logos vs. the Zondervan products???

    To se94583, greetings,

I have not used Bibleworks or Logos so I cannot comment on those, but Zondervan does have some good software.

Have you ever heard of "Parsons" Quick Verse, I use this Bible software myself, version 7, it's a bit obsolete, but it still works for me, I would highly recommend it!

They have many other soft ware options for your all your needs, the web site is below, I hope this helps you out! :)

If you want language resources go with Bible Works -- no doubt about it. It is an unbelievable program. You can just hold your mouse over a word and it will give the parsing, etc....

If you want lots of commentaries, atlases, theological dictionaries, etc...go with Logos.

I have both of these programs and they are both excellent. But for everyday stuff, I use Bible Explorer 3. It has a very simple interface, 14 major translations, numerous commentaries, and is great for what most people need Bible software for.

I like to use bible gateway . It's a free online progam with multiple versions and info from multiple lexicons too. Worth a checking out IMO. I don't know if it is downloadable.

This thread has been around for days, it relates to the Bible, and yet nobody has yet posted one of those "Jesus freak", "Bible thumper" posts--the athiest/agnostic/ultra-liberal theology contingent must be slipping.

  8. The "left" replies....

    Are you summoning me?

Actually, my thoughts on this thread are "good for you" that Bible software to conduct meaningful research exists. I always appreciate well reasoned arguments by the theologians on this board backed up by solid research. Many a time I've been given food for thought by our scholars here - not that I always agree or wind up changing my mind, but definitely a learning experience.

I would never call anyone a bible-thumper or Jesus freak. But I will call Jerry Falwell the very incarnation of the devil himself. A false prophet of the final days if there ever was one.

You see, I sort of prefer good old fashioned traditional Midwestern kind of religions - the ones where you can go to church on Sunday, live a decent life, and not have to be on some mission to convert everyone who doesn't think like you, or worse yet, condemn them with every other breath one takes....

    Carl:

Yes, I summoned you--conjured you up, so to speak--and you don't disappoint; I knew you couldn't resist taking a look at this thread and observing if it's ripe for stirring up a little religious controversy, thought I'd beat you to the punch.

"the very incarnation of the devil himself"...will you stop holding back and tell us how you really feel?

You'd be invited to my church any time, Carl. Don't want you to think just like me, believe everything I believe, because I'm convinced I must be wrong on some--or many--points; just want you to recognize the One who made you, if you don't yet.

  10. Amen brother - message taken in the spirit delivered....

Despite my somewhat strident attacks on the religious right, I'm NOT an atheist as some here may believe me to be....

    I don't think you're an atheist, Carl, but I do think you're a world-class provocateur.
