I am writing a paper on Cicero for a class that I have elected to take simply because I find Cicero incrediably fascinating! If anyone in this forum can assist me with information and or opinions about him and his life, I would be very happy.

First I'd like to know how the idea of virtue and good are related to law in the jurisprudence of Cicero? Do you think is possible that these concepts interact and depend on one another? Does this make sense for contemporary legal practice?

The other bit of information I'd be interested in knowis Is if it would be fair to argue that Cicero wants to avoid all discussion of civil law until later in his De Legibus? How does he characterize civil law in his early discussions?

This would assist me in my search of information about this great philosopher.

    Thanks, Shay
