...including my Degree Mills book co-author Allen Ezell, in Tampa. First brief report is that all is OK. (He took his hard drives to his evacuation site inland. New priorities on what to save in a crisis.)

    hello....

First of all, I wanted to say that I have always sought the advise of the wise on these boards.

Secondly, I was one of the victims of Charley.

My wife (whose is 7 mnths pregnant), my black lab, and I escaped 45 minutes after NWS & NHC declared the hurricane to be a cat 4 and was heading into Charlotte Harbor (Port Charlotte & Punta Gorda, FL), which was where I had lived.

The Hurricane destroyed my home...right now I am staying with my parents in Sarasota, FL.

I just had finished my BS degree from Excelsior this past July 04, landed a Science Teaching position at a High School in Desoto County (Aracadia, FL).

Now, after two weeks there of teaching in a new job, I lost my home, and have no idea of the high school I was teaching at.

You see, after the hurricane plowed through Charlotte County...it headed directly into Arcadia, FL (Desoto County) - which is 35 minutes NW of Charlotte County.

It has been reported that the city of Arcadia is 90-99% destroyed. :(

I have had no contact with my fellow faculty peers from the high school.

I am lucky to have had my parents fairly close to go to...but for those who couldn't get out....(words cannot express the sorrow).

The cities are worse than those on tv, people...they are showing the decent areas that were hit...they cannot get into the absoulte worst devasted areas. It looks like a war zone, a series of bombs that went off...power lines down, trees downs, houses collapsed, bildings blown apart, debris is everywhere.
They were still digging out bodies this morning.......the death tolls are high...no matter what the news is saying....it is high!

I had to walk three blocks to see where my house was.....

Please, if you can help out the unfortunate ones down here...please do!

    And lastly, lets pray.........

    Nobycane,

please keep us posted on how things go for you and your family. I have friends in that area and they were more fortunate. As with all disasters my family contributes in both a professional arena and in a personal one and our thoughts are for all those who were impacted.

Stay safe and best wishes for you and your wife.
