I sure would like to see their forums up and running again.

I'd love to see an alternative site.

I loved the combo of the two different forums, each with it's own tone.

Keep up the good work James.

I, too, hope it returns. But I also hope that:

    -- It is moderated fairly.

    -- It applies its TOS.

-- It doesn't become a haven for degree mill shills while squelching any contrarary evidence.

-- I get a pony. (I figured while I was wishing for the impossible, I might as well go all the way.)

It will be interesting to see if it returns, and whether or not its server's owner tolerates the behavior that got it booted last time. Or will it be the Neil, James, and Peter show? (Special Guest Appearances by "Dr." Marianus and the rest of the Knightsbridge band! Give 'em a hand, folks.....)

Is Talkabout just a mirror of AED or do they "lift" the posts?

Now that is a great idea.

Great thing is that we would start with a banned list.

Wish I was a computer geek so I could help out.

Yep that is fair and impartial ALL the way. :D

Glad you agree. Certain individuals have made enough comments about James that I could understand such a stance.

I've got a pony for you - $500. Shipping to Virginia should be less than $3,000. It ain't pretty but you could feel your curls waving in the breeze.

You couldn't have a nicer bunch of guys than Neil, James and Peter.

Interesting that they all have degree mill degrees. I can understand why they are biased against accreditation and would potentially be very biased from the get-go.

Does James Crabb have a degree from a diploma mill? I know he defends certain ones (like Knightsbridge) vociferously, but I didn't think that was from first-hand experience.

If not, Peter can give James one of his two.

Don't be silly, of course he does.

Yes, and if memory serves, more than one. Moreover, for the conspiracy theorists among us…

A troll shilling for the indefensible Clayton College of Natural Health recently infiltrated DegreeInfo and was posting as “nutritionist.” He was banned for posting personal slurs against Chip. “nutritionist” also posted a link to a message from James Crabb that revealed that he or she (“nutritionist”) accessed the aed newsgroup through talkabouteducation.com.

Recently (since the closure of the two fora that were havens for rapscallions) an individual posting through talkabouteducation.com as norbert45 has been making personal attacks against members of this forum (particularly Chip) on aed.

James Crabb (under such aliases as Jay2, james2, kf5k, bobblehead, and Genesis7, among others) has a history of posting vulgar and despicable personal attacks against the members of this forum, here and on other fora such as aed.

James’s degrees are from Chadwick University, another (like Clayton College of Natural Health) of Dr. Lloyd Clayton, Jr.’s indefensible nonwonderful ventures.

I too, hope that they either bring back CollegeHints or find a new forum soon so that Nurse Ratchet may return to her job.

I have always wondered is how many of the unaccredited and degree mill proponets who post here are actually the owners, operators, or direct employees of the degree mills. We know they read this site religously and I believe it is silly to think they don't post.

I have a different take. I don't think it is at all in their interests to post, and their shills do them a great disservice by doing so.

Degree mill operators have no trouble attracting customers. There is a seemingly endless supply of people who want fake credentials to get the advantages--perceived or real--that they can not or will not earn. I doubt our discussions here or elsewhere, even when littered with degree mill spammers' posts, drives very much traffic their way. In fact, it might be the opposite: it might actually hurt business.

One of the keys to success as a diploma mill is when your customers can get away with their scams. This gets hard when your diploma mill's name is being bandied about in public. Suddenly, that school on a resume that looks like thousands of others you've never heard of becomes one you know--for all the wrong reasons. Notoriety isn't good for diploma mills. Oh, sure, some people will hear about a diploma mill and try to get in on the action. Kinda like on Cops when they sting some drug dealers, and customers keep walking up during the bust! But for the most part, publicity tends to make the scam less likely to succeed, and the customer less likely to buy into it. That's probably one reason why so many of these things operate under name after name. After one name gets too well known, another one is trotted out. This wasn't so common before 24-hour news and the internet, but it now seems weird to see a real diploma mill operating for a long period of time. They seem to come and go these days.

I was never a fan of collegehints although I must admit I never spent very much time there. Most of what I saw in my intermittent, brief visits was either a repeat of infomation from what was already posted on degreeinfo, or it was a reaction to something posted on degreeinfo (or to the poster). I don't mind another perspective, and I don't mind if there's some sort of reincarnation of collegehints, but I never felt they offered anything of special value or anything that was at all unique. If they make a come-back then that's OK with me. If they don't then that's OK too.

    back with less rancor

Let's hope that whatever new or reincarnated fora return there will be an absence of personal rancor and posters can debate with civility. Time out may be a good thing for the rethinking attitudes and approaches to civilized discussion or debate.
