Residents working to revive University of Santa Barbara Will offer DL in business and education. (Note: this is not UCSB.)
It is, in fact, the former Laurence University in Florida, which somehow split into three parts many years ago. One evolved into University of Sarasota; one became University of Central Arizona (closed by the state); and this is the third, originally Laurence University of California, enjoined by the University of California from using that name, and becoming the University of Santa Barbara, operating for years as a state-approved school, then fading away (and now, it seems, being resurrected).
A faculty colleague (now retired) at my former institution taught me a lesson about accreditated versus unaccredited degrees. He received a doctorate from Laurence University (Santa Barbara) many years ago. I read his dissertation for Laurence, which was a decent piece of work. Unfortunately, the college refused to recognize his doctorate and he was not allowed to list it on the college catalogue or be moved into the doctoral salary schedule. He was never referred to as Dr. _____. Tony Pina Faculty, Cal State U. San Bernardino
I haven't seen this name in years. I do recall quite a few years ago having a discussion with the president who acknowledged the international students they recruited who inadvertently found USB when they were looking for UCSB. THis was when we were still located in SB so more than 12 years ago. I thought they had simply disappeared. Mary A
