The Online-College Web site currently displays the following message:
    • Hello prospective online college degree seekers!

We are currently redesigning this website.

As most of you know, for over 4 years we have been providing information about online college degree programs as well as traditional classroom based colleges and private colleges.

To better adjust to changing conditions and demands for college degree programs we need to make several changes to our database structure as well as overall site design.

Please check back with us soon, we will be back!

In the mean time, please visit our state-specific college directories:

      [snip]
The first directory listed is for MBA degrees online, and the first listing in that directory is entitled “Degrees in 30-days” which advertises ”Accredited, Verifiable, All levels Fully Legal, 28-yrs. Experience.” The link is to the Academic Resource and Referral Center (ARRC), the phony consulting service that only recommends (not surprisingly, since they are owned by the same individual) the notorious degree mill, Hamilton University.

Now, what does that say about the individuals who provide content (in the form of posts), and therefore traffic, for Online-College’s discussion forum? It is doubtful that any of them will be ashamed of their support for degree mills (the few that do not openly do so, or those who profess to oppose them), as their personal behavior is typically much more egregious than that.

You never could get any respect over there, could you?

The fact that you have been a favourite topic wouldn't colour your opinion, would it?

I don’t know, Dennis. As one of the leaders and most prolific posters on that forum, why don’t you explain, specifically, what you mean? Why, specifically, should I be interested in currying favor or seeking the respect and admiration of these individuals (and that includes you), especially since I would never consider behaving in the despicable manner necessary to accomplish this (questionable) goal?

Was I a “favourite topic” on that forum? You flatter me. If so, however, it would seem that I was indeed respected, even if only as an adversary. Needless to say, no one on that forum ever refuted any of my assertions or provided evidence that anything I ever wrote was erroneous.

However, the truth is that Online-College, like CollegeHints (the same individuals constitute the most prolific posters of both forums), has one, and only one, obsessively “favourite topic:” DegreeInfo is bad and the members of DegreeInfo are bad individuals. It is obvious they (the core memebrs of both fora) truly resent having been banned from DegreeInfo and are thus unable to participate in discussions concerning distance education with the individuals that are (arguably) the most knowledgeable on the planet concerning the subject.

Sometimes a cesspool should be broken up and filled in.

Online-College’s discussion forum Web site is now 404 (the main page still has the previously quoted message). It is quite possible that when Online-College is back up and running it will be sans the forum.

First Online-College, and then CollegeHints: AED better brace itself for the imminent and inevitable onslaught.

    You must mean degreeinfo too.

When the lawyers from Monrovia come knocking, what do you do?

What does a Liberian judge cost?

No, I didn’t. The onslaught I was referring to was that of the psychos and bobbleheads looking for a new place to spew their venom. Here, they are quickly exposed and checked.

Are you suggesting that Online-College and College-Hints were closed due to the efforts of St. Regis’s legal team? I don’t think so and I don’t believe you have anything on which to base such an implication. Sheila isn’t stupid; I am certain she has learned her lesson with MIGS.

I wouldn’t know, but any lawsuit would have to be filed here, in the United States, where judges are significantly more expensive. ;)

I agree but there are differing opinions.

It could be FILED in Liberia, and it could cost a lot to get it dismissed. Many times, Attorneys will do tricks like that to get some sort of settlement, i.e. defendant would be willing to pay a $50,000 settlement to avoid unknown possibly hundreds of thousands in legal fees and other expenses.

I'm not a lawyer, but I'd imagine that if a case were filed against most anyone in Liberia, it could simply be ignored. I don't imagine that a judgement against someone made in Liberia would be worth anything if a person had absolutely no properties, valuables, or even connection within Liberia? I guess the only down side would be that the party that won the case in Liberia could truthfully claim to have won a judgement against you.

The redoubtable Mr Abdulah K. Dunbar will snub you on the cocktail-party circuit.

No longer 404, the Online-College forum Web site now displays the following message (the changes and additions are in bold text):

If you have previously registered on our forums, don't worry, your account is still active and we'll notify you when the redesigned site is re-launched.

Two threads, no waiting (er... wait a minute... I mean three)

It's too bad the moderators/administrators can't re-code all the posts from this thread so that they appear, appended to and/or blended-in with, the posts in this thread -- or vice versa, if that would be more appropriate. They're both active and at this point they're both starting to cover the exact same territory; and responses in that thread are now appropriate to things posted here -- and vice versa.

Can something like that be done... with the resulting thread ending-up over here in "off topic discussions," where the topic probably belongs?

And, if so, could the resulting thread bear the name of that other thread rather than the name this one bears? (Just askin')
