Bill cannot access DI because of a tech problem. He asked me to post this for him:

    NOTE FROM BILL:

Perhaps I need to be about finishing the dissertation instead of responding to comments about the importance of the Biblical languages to ministers or what some VM vets think about Kerry or the many other interesting threads and thoughtful ideas on the fine forums of DI.

My dissertational topic must be my meat and drink now. It is more important to me than anything else to express my ideas in the form of this thesis. It is not just to get the degree, understand, but to say in a scholarly and timely manner too, given my age, what I think is the Truth! It is so great that a doctorate, maybe, will be earned for saying what I think is the Truth!!!

When that meal is served to the SA Committee too, then I somehow will return to DI.

Would you be willing to post for me this note, or a summary of it, as you see fit, on Off Topics? I'll be back in a few months when the dissertation is done. I don't want people there at DI to think that I don't care about them or their ideas. I do.

    Thanks,

    Bill Grover

If you want to know the things not to say when there are technical difficulties, I think I still have the Peter French list.

I can't imagine Bill Grover saying anything like that to Bruce or Chip.

It's called humour. Irony to be specific.

Give Bill my best; I just got back from a long voluntary disappearance myself, partly for the same reason. Here's hoping he pops back in from time to time; he adds a lot of wisdom and civility to the off-topic discussions.

    Cheers,

The next time we hear from Bill Grover, it may very well be Doctor Bill Grover!

That has a nice ring to it!
