I thought this was an interesting tidbit from this site: http://www.eassw.org/newslet3/newslet28-30.htm
I have also heard of clean clinics in Canada when addicts can use heroin and it is a controled environment. There is a medical staff that watches over them so they do not overdose. They offer a needle program and quiet rooms to get high.
Maybe we can have them through in a couple of frosty beer mugs with that as well!! Beer always tastes better in a frosty mug. Rich Hartel
Brompton's Cocktail is, or at least was, a mixture of heroin, cocaine and I believe alcohol used for pain management in terminal illness in Britain. I came across it in Cardiff, Wales in the early 1980s.
Most likely they will. If you have a bottle of Rye hidden away, you can also declare that it's for medicinal purposes only.
This is true. There are a couple of clinics in Toronto, one in Calgary and another in Vancouver. The taxpayers are the ones who fund these clinics through medicare.
Well, what we've BEEN doing doesn't seem to do much beyond typing lots of people as felons, and eroding our rights to privacy, does it? I sure don't know the answers. I WILL say that I have dealt with a lot of drug users over the years. My nominee for worst substance to be abused would be any of the toulene containing inhalents, possession and manufacture of which is quite legal. Spray paint, plastic cement, and the like. It literally dissolves the brain. Runner up would be methamphetamine followed by alcohol and cocaine, in a dead heat for third place. Just my VERY unscientific opinion!
Prescriptions for booze are gone in Alberta. I think the doctors determined that alcohol was never an appropriate treatment, just heroin. I think churches still get to buy tax-free jugs.
