ANN ARBOR, MI—The University of Michigan has become the 17th institution of higher learning to be implicated in the checks-for-degrees scandal rocking American campuses, representatives from the Department of Justice reported Tuesday.

"We have strong evidence that the University of Michigan granted academic degrees to students in exchange for hefty payments, often totaling tens of thousands of dollars," Deputy Attorney General James B. Comey said. "In the process, thousands of graduates have emerged with degrees, but few or no skills applicable to everyday life. And many are as unprepared to enter the job market as they were when they first enrolled."

    (etc.)

OUCH! That's gonna leave a mark!

Actually, does anything ever really happen to these schools anyway? They get a little bad press, then it seems like it's business as usual. Thanks for the post Dr Bear.

The point is they are talking about every school.

Yeah, "The Onion" bit kinda gives it away before one even reads it. Pretty funny stuff.

The Onion is a satirical newspaper. The articles are jokes. Do a search to see other Onion articles to better understand their humor.

first the Rose bowl, now this.

After the public flogging Michigan took at the hands of thee mighty Trojans in the Rose bowl, this might be the final blow. With a respected paper such as the onion, you know 60 minutes will look into this.

with the way Michael Moore, New York Times, etc. throw around unbased accusations, i thought inuendo and hersay was acceptable? is it not? SIce when does America care about the facts, baseless allegations seem to be the word of the day.
