From 2000 to 2003, I was able to go to school full-time while working full-time and was able to complete undergraduate and graduate studies. At the time, it didn't seem very hard, but now in retrospect, I can't believe that I did it!!! I did the impossible!!! Wow!!! :D

During those years, all of my off-duty time was spent studying and doing academic projects. Okay, so now I'm finally out of school --> You'd think that I have more time on on my hands since I'm not in school full-time, right??? Wrong!!! I now seem to have less time on my hands!!!

Here are my current "time gobblers:"
    • Helping to run a local political campaign.
    • Joining a fraternal lodge.
    • Part-time teaching at a community college.
    • Working on a large off-duty job-related project.
Where does the time go??? Instead of having more time after finishing college, I actually seem to have less time!!! Has anyone else experienced this dichotomy?

Who unleashed the time gobblers?

Ahhhh, but you do have more time now. Instead of using it for school, you are using it in ways that are meaningful for you now.

Working on a political campaign is not something you MUST do. You likely have strong feelings about your candidate or issue that you feel it important to invest the time to help assure a win.

Joining a fraternal lodge isn't something you MUST do. It is likely something you found added to your life in some way.

Part time teaching can be fun and provides a few shekels. Is it a must do or a wanna do?

I found I needed to get a hold of my time. I was teaching, doing my dissertation, trying to start a financial practice, plus the usual honey-do's. I was spread so thin, I was unable to focus on anything, and there was very little time just for decompression. So, I gave up the teaching. I thought it would free up some time on the weekends for a couple hours of fun. Instead, I focused more on the dissertation and the honey-do's. I found I was my own worse time gobbler

    Is time accelerating?

As I get older, it feels like time is accelerating. I also seem to have less of it. Between the phone ringing off the hook -- and having so much to do -- I sometimes get confused to the point of not knowing what day it is.

Pursuing a PhD is out!!! My time is too short!!!

    Re: Is time accelerating?

As I've gotten older I've come to feel that time is the most valuable commodity I have to spend. Any time someone asks me for something I eventually have to consider the request in terms of how much time it will require. Spend it wisely, you've only got a limited supply.
