I've been communicating with Mark's wife, Rosie, and I'm sure she wouldn't mind me posting her summary of his situation. The progress is very slow, and he has a long, long way to go.

    Dear John
    _
Well, we are now in a skilled nursing facility, we have slowly gone down the scale of care. But Mark still has a long way to go, his vitals are more stable, but he still runs fevers.
    _
He is focusing more, but it still not for long. He is slowly gaining movement on his right side (his arm already moves to the sides and the hands opens and grips).
    _
But we still seem to be in between 3-4 on the Los Amigos cognitive scale.

I am sorry but e-mailing has gotten way behind on our household. Since Mark is now about 30 minutes from our home, San Diego traffic can many times make that time double.
    _
I have taken the materials that you sent me as a favor companion for my long visits with Mark. I can now take part in many aspects of his care, and I am getting ready for the time he can come home.
    _
Thank you John, I hope Mark can one day look back at all the e-mails and post and celebrate in all the love his friends have shown us.

    Rosie

    Wow!

Everytime I hear a report I realize it is worse than I imagined.

    Thanks Doc!

Please let Rosie know that we are happy to hear of any progress and that she and Mark remain in our hearts and thoughts and prayers.

If she would be able to post an address, I'm sure many of us would periodically send cards and best wishes that she could read to Mark.

    Thanks again!

    Re: Thanks Doc!

I would caution her in doing so, in another forum (as they come here all the time), they are making reprehesible remarks about the situation, and they may send things there that would only upset the family. I would ask for a PM. Yes, there are HORRIBLE people in this world... be careful what you put up here to the public. (sorry to say, very sad).
