Public university student costs have fallen?

    While I don't pay much attention to such matters, especially on a national level, I have some idea that while "tuition" may have fallen, that notorious category that is generally known as "fees" has increased substantially. This is akin to a politician who says he won't raise taxes and then creates a new "surcharge."
    Whatever you call it there's a guy from the government who's got his hand in your wallet.

    The article seems to be saying that tuition has increased but been more than offset by grants and tax breaks. Taking with one hand and giving with the other.

    That's an astounding figure as an increase. I wonder if there exists good figures on the total U.S. cost of higher education, public and private.
