What an insult to defame the name of Scoop Jackson! Henry Jackson was one of America's finest Senators and statesman. He would have been an excellent President with his centrist politics and common sense approach to evil in the world. I give as much credence to what Pat Buchanan says as I do John Kerry. They're both self-serving, arrogant extremists.
What is a "post-Semite?" Someone who believes that we shouldn't get into World War III to avoid the removal of the West Bank Settlements? Or is it, simply (God forbid) an American who is more concerned with America than he is with Isreal? Or perhaps someone who believes that it might be good if people other than Jews were allowed to live in the "Holy Land?" Or perhaps a Christian who can't wait for the day when all of the foolish Jews realize how wrong they were to reject Jesus? Or, is it, someone like George W. Bush, who longs for the day when we finally get rid of these Muslims in the Holy Land so that the temple can be rebuilt and Christ can come again? Or is this some sort of insult against politicians who believe that they can think for themselves, rather than believe what some religious authority dictates? Or what?
Jimmy: Having evaded Jeff's shoal of angry red herrings--since I'm a vegetarian I'll refuse to bite, or bite back--there was a fascinating story some months ago on the website of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency about Senator Kerry's ancestry. The Boston Globe carried the original article, I believe. His paternal grandparents, IIRC, were Czech Jews who emigrated to the US around 1900, changed the family name, and left Judaism. I do not recall the exact details (the above may not be accurate), but for anyone with an interest in family history the Senator's discovery of his "lost" heritage (ergo: "post-Semite") is quite poignant. The point of my post was to swat at Mr Buchanan; Senator Kerry's family history provided a convenient punning foil. Thank you for your interest. Why anybody would find a reference to Senator Kerry's Jewish ancestry an "insult" escapes me. Especially a reference by me to the same. Oh well. You may find the article in question (sorry no URL) a fascinating footnote to the current presidential race. Here's a parallel article from the UAHC website: http://www.uahc.org/rjmag/03fall/kerry.shtml
Okay, I do remember something about Kerry's sudden Jewish ancestry. I thought "post Semite" was some new political term I had not heard of. It seems new terms arise everyday and they are hard to keep up with. Thanks for responding to my question.
I thought sadam was the man with the blue hat, and that he was the one that was going to rebuild the temple. At least I saw that on the 700 club after the first desert storm.
