What are the thoughts on using an editor service to critique and edit a dissertation / publishing / report. This question is related to school or work.

Have any of you used it to polish your work?

Also, other than your advisor, do you have anybody else review your work before submitting it to publications and/or the school.

I do not see anything wrong with using an editor as long as he or she is not impacting your idea and reseach.
At CSUDH all thesis' have to be proof read by a library staff member to ensure they meet grammar and spelling standards. At ERAU my GRP (thesis) was edited by my advisor.

As far as work is concerned, some jobs require so many reports that hiring an editor would be economically prohibitive. Also, in the working world the information is often confidential and should not be shown to people outside the company.
