The Bloomfield Hills school superintendent with the LaSalle (Louisiana) doctorate, acquired before the FBI raid, has resigned.

    The original story is here

The story of the resignation should appear in the Michigan Daily Tribune shortly. Apparently the board is mulling over retrieving the enhanced doctoral pay that the superintendent got.

Not unlike the teachers in the south, this superintendent picked the wrong place to use a degree from a diploma mill. Public education being what it can be, sooner or later it will be found out. And rightly so.

    A couple things.

It is the superintendent of the Madison School District, not the Bloomfield Hills School District, who has the phony degree. The guy's *lawyer* is in Bloomfield Hills. Bloomfield Hills may well be the wealthiest (and overcredentialed and hyperscrutinized and hyperscrutinizing) public school district in the state. The top corporate brass who happen not to live in the Grosse Pointes tend to live there.

The blue collar suburb of Madison Heights is divided, for no apparent reason, into two school districts, Lamphere, which is reasonably competent and occasionally excellent, and Madison, which struggles, to put it kindly.

Also, it's the (Royal Oak) Daily Tribune, not the Michigan Daily Tribune. Folks with long memories remember when the Trib was a real newspaper, too.
