Quick, a Spring Puzzler before Spring has sprung.

What one significant thing do the following 19 schools have in common, other than that they are all unaccredited schools approved by the state of California?

A copy of the forthcoming (eventually) Degree Mills book, or of Not Your Mother's Cookbook, to the first person to post a correct answer. Opinion of the judge is final.

I would suggest they all are on the same server, but I don't think it is true. :)

Send the prize to Sainz, and let's be done with it.

Their names are all very close facisimiles of legitimate, accredited schools.

They all appear to be Unaccredited CA schools (not necessarily all BPPVE approved).

Oops Dr. Bear already said that. That's what happens when you are up too late doing expense reports. <Good Night>

    New owners at Pacific Western?

Perhaps continuing the trend identified in the Spring Puzzler, it appears that within the last two weeks, the founders of Pacific Western seem to be gone, replaced by two Asian names.

Interesting list. Appears to have mostly Korean names, followed by Chinese, and a Vietnamese name thrown in for good measure.

One very funny sidelight on the degree mill landscape is when degree mills are bought and sold. It seems similar to trading in uncompressed air to me. I mean how lazy can a con-artist be that he can't set up his own con and isn't he getting conned himself when he buys the scam?

I think the main commodity these places have to sell is their mailing list.

For one thing, based on the marketing wisdom that says your best new customer is your old customer, I suspect there is a lot of money made by offering the Bachelor's buyers the opportunity for a Master's, etc.

For another, the 90%+ who inquire but don't buy are still excellent prospects for special deals, offers from other school names, and probably some of that lovely uncompressed San Diego air.
