Was Degreeinfo site offline last 2 days?

I was trying to loggin in to the site and i was unable to do so. Or is there is issue with Window Washer 5.5? Since I install Window washer 5.5 on to my Laptop I had issues logging into the Degreeinfo Site, But Now it seems ok.

Any thoughts?

I don't think it's Window Washer . . . I don't have that, yet I was unable to access for about 24 hours. I kept getting some weird kind of error message, which I promptly emailed off to Bill.

 

The internet was down for cleaning.
The fiber optic backbone was all dirty from all the spam it carries so they had to clean it.
Window washer helps too.

 

The error message I got was that there was some error in the SQL coding

 

That's the same one I got.

 

I haven't heard anything from the tech people, but in the past, this sort of thing usually results from attacks by the mill shills.

Me too. It was quite odd.

 

The database with the forum messages lives on one server in North Carolina, while the scripts that access the database (along with the rest of the content) lives on another server in Florida. When the traffic gets really heavy between the two locations, the database server can lose connection with the main server, and that's what causes the SQL errors you were seeing.

We're moving DegreeInfo to a more powerful server within the next week, which should alleviate most of the problems.

 

I feel better now. I got a message that I was banned.

You obviously haven't been banned, since you posted that.

Could you forward anything (web logs, etc.) about that to me?

I got the same SQL message once - most of the time it was just the usual "Page Not Found". Thought it was some hackers, they are relentless.

 

Could it be ... P A T R I O T A C T ???

 

I received errors again this morning, just an FYI - it looks back up thought.

 

I got an "unable to connect" message on my MAC.
