Since I plan to earn a PhD, I thought I would start to try to get something published. I wrote an article and got it published on my first try. It may not be a big deal to many, but I'm excited.

  2. Congratulations Randell...

Cool article. I've never been "published", although I've had things written about me - not quite the same feeling. :)

24X7 is an indusrty mag that I have been reading for about 10 years. They are a traditional mag as well as being online.

I wrote the article and submitted it to my employers PR department to make sure it was in line with the company. They submitted it for me since they have a long standing relationship with 24X7.

Congratulations! There's nothing much, for me, like getting published. After two books and numerous articles, I still think it's rather cool. I'm sure it's an ego thing.

So what are you going to write next...?

Do you have the school to wanna attend PhD program in mind?

I was thinking of NCU. TUI is not accpeting new students and I will be out of the military so I could not afford the tuition (I could afford it but I don't want to pay out of pocket).

I am also looking at Nova. The DBA program would require too many pre-req's but the Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership looks great. It would cost my quite a bit out of pocket but I think it would be worth it since Nova has a great reputation.

Basically, it is between Nova and NCU, but I am leaning toward NCU because of the cost factor. I do not need a PhD and cannot justify spending 15-20K out of pocket for one. My wife thinks I crazy already, I do not want to prove it.:D

    Randell,

NCU is ok for those of us that are looking for something technical but at a higher level view. I also looked at TUI and NSU. I decided upon NCU because of the classes in my concentration and the lack of any residence. No aspirations to fame or glory (fortune would be nice). NCU lists abassadors on their site; folks who have graduated and are willing to share some thoughts. I contacted several to get a feel for the impact their degree made on their careers, etc...

NSU has some really good looking courses. The problem I had was that the courses and direction I want would require a combination of their Business and IS degrees, I don't mind work but...

Not sure where you are headed but both Marist College and Capitol College have masters degrees that they state are preparatory for the CIO/CTO function.

As for cost, NCU is at $475 per credit, you would probably get the max 30 credits for your Masters so you are still looking at $24K for the remainder of 51 credits (its an 81 credit program)

    Holler if I can help.

    Regards,
