Can anyone provide any insight on this college? I was checking it out on the web and found it be VERY reasonable ($200. a unit). Much cheaper than anything else I found. What is their story? Are they a decent place to go? Any first hand experience? Do they using streaming video or do they merely use message boards to teach?

I checked out Capella. Looks like a nice school - but the price turned me off bigtime (same reason I didn't pick GGU or Keller).

I have no first hand knowledge but Amberton is a reputable school. What type of program are you looking for and at what level?

Hmmm. I don't know anything about the Amberton MBA program but as I said, they are a reputable school. Liberty University has an MBA ($285 per hour so it's more expensive but still affordable) that can be completed in 12 months, if that important to you. No prerequisites, no GRE's.

Did I just say GRE's???? I meant no GMAT exam.

  6. Good experience so far...

I'm currently an Amberton grad student, enrolled in the MBA in Strategic Leadership. So far my experiences with the school (3 classes in out of a total of 8 that I needed to complete) is very good. They took 12 credits of a previous MBA program that I had been in way back in the 90s. The classes have been insightful, the work is challenging, and the feedback from the professors has been first rate and highly responsive. This is no easy program - you have to write a LOT. And well.

As far as the reputation goes, I believe (in addition to it being RA - SACS accredited) that Amberton was at one time affiliated with Abilene Christian University, which always has had an excellent reputation in the south and in Texas.

Depends what you need the degree for. In my case, it is a capstone to an already fairly highly placed university position as an administrator. If I were just starting out, it probably would not be the place to go. I might consider a PhD or DBA after the Amberton Masters, and I see no reason why I would not be able to do so at a mid-tier or even upper tier regionally accredited university or college.
