I recently tried to post to Jimmy Clifton's DL Psych thread only to find it had been closed. I've never seen this happen before. I assume the moderaters shut it down due to all the bickering on it. Here is what I don't get:

    1) Jimmy posted a thread regarding a new DL program in psychology. He's then attacked, first sarcastically, then blatently. For what?????

    2) GSST ends up getting attacked in a discussion that has nothing to do with GSST.

You guys really have to keep the personal nonsense out of this forum.

Regarding GSST being a mill, I assure you it is not. I attended GSST for a time and am now enrolled at Briercrest Bible College. GSST lacks in some areas, no question about it...but it is not a mill by any standard. I have been working with Dr. Graves to improve the quality of the program. Many positive changes have already been made (without my help) and I expect many more to be made in the future (perhaps with my help). Dr. Graves has a sincere desire to improve the school and offer a sound Biblical education at an affordable price. Nothing wrong with that.

    Sarcastic?

I expressed my congratulations to Dr Clifton on completing his GSST MDiv. It was a new listing in his extensive sig file. That I think poorly of that school was irrelevant. I try to congratulate all new degree achievers, regardless of the source or field of their degrees.

Since Dr Clifton cited making a new start, I thought that he could explain why people who use substandard schools (NOT utter mills, just not RA, NA, or "test pilot"/BJU-type UA) so often present their schools in an all-or nothing light--a presentation to which users of RA, NA, or "test pilot" UA schools rarely, if ever, resort.

He didn't, really, and the question still intrigues me.

He and I got sidetracked about an ancillary school to one in which he is currently enrolled. I was surprised that a gentleman with so many degrees would plead ignorance.

He then became angry when I had no wish to make him angry, but simply wanted clarification.

Other posters expressed, trenchantly, their opinions.

The mods saw fit to shut the thread. I have no quarrel with that, absolutely none at all.

If you would like to post about the psych school Dr Clifton mentioned, why not start a new thread about that school? I agreed with Bill Dayson's criticisms of that school, since I loathe and despise deconstructionism, and trust Bill's assessment that that is what that school was up to. I promise that I will not post on any such new thread.

But I won't fight with you about a fight I wasn't having with Dr Clifton. I promise that, too.

I wasn't looking for a fight. I was expressing my frustration with the fact that anytime Jimmy makes a comment about anything, the thread is usually thrown off course and wrecked in short order. I'm not defending Jimmy. He's a big boy and can defend himself. I'm just frustrated that people can't seem to just let things go and stay on topic. I have an idea...if someone wants to start an argument with someone, why not create a new thread on the Off-Topic forum and say, "Hey, let's go meet in the Off Topic forum so we can have at it?" That way everyone else isn't constantly subjected to the bickering. Those people that don't want a fight will simply not travel to the Off Topic thread. Sound reasonable?

I closed the thread. I've always believed in accepting blame or credit for my actions, so I'm fessing up.

Chip (who owns this board) recently posted a thread that made it pretty clear that he wasn't happy with the level of personal attacks on the board.

Besides the fact that I agree with him, I take my responsibilities as a moderator very seriously. My old criteria was to err on the side of vigorous debate. That obviously isn't working, so I'll now err on the side of civility.

re GSST: As I understand it the main issues raised in the thread you reference was that GSST administrators told Barry and Jimmy that it had certain negotiations with DETC which DETC then denied. Also, Did you read the thread on the GSST dissertation? How do you react to that? Third, I checked KR's claim that certain schools accepted GSST degrees and those schools denied it. Third, giving ThDs in Bible/Theology when no profs there have accredited PhDs/ThDs in those areas is a very questionable practice IMO. MDivs do not bother me so much. BTW, just how did Graves earn two docs in two years, do you know? Still I'm glad you are helping out there, and I would not say it is a mill, just substandard.

re Attacking Jimmy: It is remarkable to me that some come after Unk (and Gus? and me?), but Jimmy when posting untruths on collegehints " There was NO word about ACCS...NO word" goes unscathed. To correct Jimmy is "personal nonsense"? Then when proven wrong in that Barry criticised both TTS repeatedly and ACCS the response from Jimmy is " Oh, Barry doesn't count cause he is decent." So what about the rest which are the subject of Jimmy's collegehints post, ? We are scum?

re : Opening new threads. I like that idea. I promise to try to remember to do it.
