    Hi all,

Ray had his surgery today, and came through with flying colors! It turns out they couldn't do the laparoscopy -- the gall bladder was too big (they showed it to me -- it was MASSIVE!), a lot of adhesions, pus, and fluid, so they opened him up the old-fashioned way. Surgery took about 3.25 hours, and he was great throughout -- heart fine, blood pressure fine, etc.

I saw him when he came out of recovery, and went up to ICU with him, where he'll stay the night. Tomorrow they plan to move him to his regular room, about 4 days in the hospital, then home. Stitches should come out in about 10 days, and about a month of sick leave. Poor man, that means he'll miss teaching the rest of the semester, but might be back in time for final exams! :D

Kidding aside, I am so very relieved and thankful that he did okay, I feel almost giddy. The cardiologist was trying to convince him most of yesterday to postpone the surgery for a couple of months, but Ray wanted to go ahead and get it done with. I probably would have made the same decision if it were me, but I was still quite tense today.

So, break out the bubbly (or at least a good German beer), and raise one for Ray! Thanks, everyone, for all your support.

    Regards,
    Adrienne

Great news!!! My wife had her's removed some years ago. She likened the pain she was having prior to that surgury equal to or worse than child birth!

    Great news!

I don't have any champagne or German beer on hand, but I'll hoist a Miller Lite tonight in celebration. :D

    Good news, indeed.

I was concerned about dietary changes after mine departed 30+ years ago, but none were required.

The best moment came in psychic reading I'd been roped into sometime later, when I was told, "There will be a problem with your gall bladder." I said, "Gee, I hope the jar doesn't fall off the shelf of that hospital in San Diego."

Great news, Adrienne. Somehow I'd missed that this was in the works; my apologies. In any case, prayers and best wishes to Ray and you for a speedy recovery for him and all success to you in your DL.

P.S. The "Lutheran holy water" sounds like a good idea. Prosit!;)
