Is It Grade Inflation, or Are Students Just Smarter? Discusses Princeton's proposal to limit "A" grades to 35% of the grades given. I like the idea proposed here (I've forgotten by whom - sorry): For each course on transcript, list student's grade and GPA for the class (for that course). List student's overall GPA with average GPA for all the classes that student took. So your transcript might look like: English 101 A (class average 3.91) French 101 A (3.73) ... etc. ... Student GPA: 4.00 (average of class averages 3.82)
