Is It Grade Inflation, or Are Students Just Smarter?

Discusses Princeton's proposal to limit "A" grades to 35% of the grades given.

I like the idea proposed here (I've forgotten by whom - sorry):
    • For each course on transcript, list student's grade and GPA for the class (for that course).
    • List student's overall GPA with average GPA for all the classes that student took.
So your transcript might look like:

    • English 101 A (class average 3.91)
      French 101 A (3.73)
      ...
      etc.
      ...
Student GPA: 4.00 (average of class averages 3.82)

My transcripts show class averages. I like percentiles. I bet no-one does them.
