I have noticed that various posters have completely different styles depending on which forum they are posting.

Some are totally confrontational on this forum, while on Collegehints they are always polite. They also seem to change their position on accreditation.

At first I wondered if it was not someone posting using their name (like the AED person). But, they quoted themselves form the other forum.

I actually find this rather amusing.

Hi Mike: Great minds think alike.:D This stuff seemed, while revealing, a bit bland, until I remembered what was missing--the racist epithets and sexual slander. The abusive use of psych terms, however, provides a textual bridge between a poster's postings there and that poster's postings here. Pride in authorship is a wonderful thing, I guess.

For me, the most dramatic contrast has been James Crabb. At first, I couldn't believe that the mild-mannered "kf5k" who wrote:
was the "toughnut" on alt.education.distance who wrote:
But, reviewing a large number of his posts has convinced me that it's one man. :(

    Using the term loosely...

Impressive echoes of someone else, too.

I have been particularly annoyed at James Crabb (kf5k) because of his non-stop attacks on me. Now he hides behind Glen's skirts at CollegeHints--as well as the un-moderated nature of a.e.d. He prints noxious comments and unfounded rumors at will, then decries the tenor of commentary here.

    I like James.

I am meek at collegehints because since the departure of certain individuals confrontation is minimal.

I like to waltz but am always ready to tango.

Here's an idea! Someone looking for a dissertation idea could investigate what it is about the internet that makes rational, intelligent, and probably very nice people act the direct opposite once their fingers touch a keyboard and a forum is on their monitor. There has to some kind of phenomenon at work there.:D

All the drives for glory have in common the reaching out for greater knowledge, wisdom, virtue, or powers than are given to human beings; they all aim at the absolute, the unlimited, the infinite. Nothing short of absolute fearlessness, mastery, or saintliness has any appeal for the neurotic obsessed with the drive for glory. He is therefore the antithesis of the truly religious man. For the latter, only to God are all things possible: the neurotic's version is: nothing is impossible to me. His will power should have magic proportions, his reasoning be infallible, his foresight flawless, his knowledge all encompassing. The theme of the devil's pact . . . begins to emerge. The neurotic is the Faust who is not satisfied with knowing a great deal, but has to know everything."

Why is it that I get the impression that much of the literature you cite you have either never read or failed to comprehend, as evidenced by what you say and what you do?

    Well quoted, seekinghelp.

Might this apply also to a mill operator or peddler of fake religious credentials or issuer of fradudulent psychological diagnoses? These would seem to be classic cases of Faustian glory-hounding. What about using racist and sexually abusive epithets, or billing oneself prominently as a clinical therapist with a mill doctorate, creating the impression in the minds of the unwary that the person doing so is a real psychologist or psychiatrist? Would such conduct--especially by an ostensible clergyman--be Faustian?

What do you think (speaking hypothetically, of course)?

It's been a long, long time since I've come across anyone who read or cited Horney.

She has always been my favorite along with Harry Stack Sullivan.

I have the complete works of both.

    Take care.

I agree Dennis. James is in fact a key person at CollegeHints, where there is always a high degree of respect for all members.
Many interesting and valuable posts are being generated at CH, where rude/obnoxious comments are not permitted.
A good number of those who post there are, of course, former
    DegreeInfo members.

    High degree of respect?

Recent comment by James Crabb on CollegeHints to another member:
Moderator's response was not a reproof, but "Jay2, You seem to have a lot of information on this issue. May I ask if you have any additional information to share with the board? Thanks".

Another recent comment by James Crabb on CollegeHints:
Not reproved by the moderator, whose next comment in the thread began "I agree Jay2".

James Crabb's postings on CollegeHints are not nearly as nasty as the "kiss the ass of John Bear twice a day" stuff he posted on alt.education.distance; but I guess he's slightly afraid of the moderator.

    Best wishes for Dr. Douglas

Hello friends, sorry about my English.

Hello Dr. Douglas, congratulations on your new “adventure”. You deserve that position and more.

Nevertheless, be careful Dr. Douglas, never put information of your new “adventure” in this forum. That person can do bad things if he/she knows where the adventure is.

What's funny about James is that he gets so many things wrong. For example, he infers that Bear moved Greenwich to Hawaii to take advantage of that state's lax laws regarding higher education. What he doesn't note is that Bear himself moved to Hawaii during that period.

John was one of four principles in Fairfax, and was involved only during the first 4 months or so of its formation. The situation ended in acrimony, but Crabb makes it sound like Bear ran it. Hardly.
