Oklahoma State Releases Fall 2003 Honor Rolls "... Grades earned through correspondence classes may not be included in meeting the minimum enrollment or grade point average required for an honor roll. ..."
The Professor at TU that received her BS, MBA, and PhD from OU was very much against DL as well.... maybe there is a trend.
I think the bias isn't with schools in Okla but with the attitudes of how people earn their degrees. I have a friend getting his PhD in Theology from a B&M school and he hates the idea of distance education. As the technology gets better hopefully the attitudes will change.
About 10 years ago, I took one DL course from Oklahoma State. The class was only offered on a pass/fail basis. I don't know if this has changed since then, but if not, it could explain the above statement.
I see Jeff's explanation as more apt for the situation. Otherwise, this view is very hypocritical especially when OSU offers DL degrees: http://ueied.ue.okstate.edu/dl/dislearn.htm In fact tuition is very reasonable at $190/credit hr. for an MS in Computer Science. John
