Hello, This will probably sound like a stupid question, but I would like to know how dose the whole honors thing(cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude) exactly work at US schools? I have seen people with BA's from the same US school, both had a 3.6 GPA, and one had cum laude well the other one didn't. I found this kind of confusing. Bo

One note, my institution only gave these designations for THEIR classes, no transfer applicability to their honors programs.
