What's American's perception about this school,to non-American,this name call to mind the UIUC which is part of Illinois system,so we will be of the opinion that it must be a decent school...what do you reckon?

In terms of name recognition, which school is unrivalled in offering a DL undergraduate degree program?

I do not think anyone can answer your "unrivalled" question because there are a considerable number of programs available.

If you are looking for no-residency requirements at all then the "Big Three" of Excelsior College, Thomas Edison State College, or Charter Oak State College are excellent choices.

The UIUC program is RA and is well accepted in the US.

Finally, on DL programs, you may want to get a copy of Bear's Guide and review the various programs available. There is sure to be something there that interests you.

UIS, formerly Sangamon State University, is a member of the University of Illinois system along with UIUC (Champaign-Urbana campus) and UI Chicago.

Most state university systems have one school that is sort of the flagship school, and then others of somewhat lesser repuration. The University of Illinois is no exception. UIUC is a world-class research university. It is a very strong math/science/engineering school. Its CS department is world-class. UIUC had two Nobel prize winners this year.

UI-Springfield is certainly a step or two down from UIUC; it has a much smaller footprint thatn UIUC. However, it probably enjoys some added resources and legitimacy by being part of an extablished university system.

UICU is one of the best, if not the best, engineering school in the state and the Midwest, and it has a very strong national reputation as well. UIS benefits from the relationship with UIUC, but I doubt very many would confuse the two, especially those that remember the former Sangamon State U. I considered attending UIS a few years ago myself as a resident distance student, but decided against it for various reasons. That said, I think it is decent, but it wouldn't be my top choice for schools in the state.
