I moved it into the Admin section. If anyone wants to talk about the whole Thurmond thing, that's fine, but I thought the original post contained some offensive remarks.
From the horse's mouth. I will post a link to that unbelievable storey again. Please don't bother to click on the hyperlink if you think that this story is nauseating. Please don’t throw up. The Thurmond storey is here Ike Okonkwo
I would suggest that the next time a thread was removed that the moderator create a new thread with the same name and just say that the thread was removed. It can be kind of frustrating to look through the different forums looking for a thread and doing this as part of the procedure would save the rest of us this mild frustration. Thanks, Bill
Looking at this through an admittedly kakanisch lens, the lady in question appears gracious, well-spoken, dignified, and thoughtful. Apparently she favors her mother's side of the family.
Re: From the horse's mouth. Just to clarify...the story was not nauseating but the way it was introduced and set up to this forum...that was inappropiate and insensitive IMHO....that is why I responded to your post the way I did. As to the story or recent public revelation of the story...to use words common in this forum..this was very old news...not only to those in South Carolina but to many people of color around the country...who have similar stories to tell but may never be heard or garner the media attention this one story has. Maybe if this story gets into history books we may finally as a nation face (I did not say apologize) some more of our painful history.
I agree! Based upon her public presentation you could almost argue that she could not be from the senator's genetic bank! What a hypocrite!!!!!!!!!!!! Regulating his own children (and grandchildren) to the back of the bus, to second rate schools, to inferior lunch counters, etc.......ad nausem!!!!!!!!! Just my opinion.
I'm pleased that he was kind to his daughter and supported her financially. I believe that one of the difficulties that a racist must face is moral consistency. The Senator sure appears to have been a hypocrite.
Revisionist I take it the revisionist nutter's post has been removed also. I hope his access to the forum has bitten the dust too. Roy Maybery
