    Hello,

What would you guys recommend as the best review material, for someone that got their LLB a year ago and and is now planing to return to law school to get their LLM? Gilbert's Law School Legends Audio Series, Sum & Substance Audio Series, Sum & Substance Quick Review or Crunchtime Series

    Thanks

Let's see...I think you got your LL.B. in South Africa? That's a "mixed" jurisdiction...are you seeking your LL.M. in the United States? If so, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Foreign LL.M. students usually craft their two semesters or so to cover the professional "basics" of American law. Indeed, in many law schools, they take their courses along side American J.D. students.

Besides, you remember far more than you think you do.

    Hi Nosborne,

Yes, I earned my LLB from South Africa. For my LLM I have 2 option:

    1. Go back to law school full time for a whole year and earn my LLM from York University in Canada.
    2. Do it by distance learning at University of London.

I am just worried that I will be very behind the rest of my class mates because right now all the information that I learned during my LLB seems like a big blur. :(

The "big blur" phenominon is temporary. Once you get your teeth into the program, it will sort itself out, I promise.

There is a disadvantage, though, in not actually PRACTICING law. Learning to DO helped me sort out what I had learned in theory.

    Is your LL.B. a D/L degree?

Then if at all possible, I would recommend doing your LL.M. in residence. There is some advantage, I believe, in arguing out one's position with other law students in a personal, face-to-face way. It helps to clarify your thinking. I have heard that this can be accomplished via electronic means; I don't know.

I agree with you nosborne48 and that's what I am planing on doing. I was accepted into the LLM program at York U and I think I will stop working for a year and go for it.

It might be possible to tailor your LL.M. studies to reach equivalency with a Canadian Bar qualifing LL.B.
