Auburn should tell those SACS fools to go straight to ...well wherever you send those kind of people.

I say they should call DTEC up and have them in for a visit, show them just who is in control. SACS ain' t the only game in town.

    Uh... nevermind.

That actually raises an interesting question.

What if a major university, such as Auburn, told their regional accreditor that they weren't going to play ball anymore.

It would hard to imagine Auburn University being looked upon as a degree mill because they lacked RA........

Makes you wonder if the the whole RA thing needs revamped. What on Earth has the treatment of an athletics coach got to do with the quality of education provided to students?

Why is there so much in the rules about the president controlling the athletics? Am I just missing something by not being American? Sorry if this is obvious to everyone else.

This is as ridiculous, on the RA end of the spectrum, as the floating heads are on the SRU faculty on the other end. Degree mills by no means have a lock on insanity in higher education practices.

Lets be honest - If Auburn became unaccredited, then students would no longer receive federal student aid. The majority of the students would be gone in a heartbeat. No Pell grants = no school for a lot of people.

    From the article:
Did the board of trustees fire the university president because it disagreed with his policy towards the school's athletic program? In that the SACS involvement came about after a complaint from faculty makes me think it possible that the trustees were more concerned with athletics than academics. If that's the case, SACS intervention might be necessary.
