Not that it matters to all of us serious, academically oriented bookworms, but has anyone noticed that within the past few months South Africa has hosted the World Cup Cricket tournament, the World Cup Rugby Tournament and this weekend they also hosted the latest World Cup Swimming tournament. SA is a sports Mecca! (Oh yes, and by the way, the Patriots completely and totally kicked ass on the Dolphins today)

England won the Rugby World cup which was held in Australia.

South Africa is lobbying very hard to become the host country for the 2010 FIFA World up.

South Africa performed disgracefully in the Rugby World Cup, and the coach and his staff have been fired.

    Read the coolest thing...

in the Chronicle of Higher Education. The University of Witwatersrand in SA owns a professional soccer team which plays in the SA premier pro league. The players are paid and are offered a free education if they choose to indulge. The team pays for itself and the school gets endless press and advertisement. Now that school has got to have a business department worth studying at!
