Atlantic Magazine once gave out honorary doctorates (Atlantic University) with a subscription, and it started appearing on resumes. And one of the reasons I stopped the Millard Fillmore Institute ages ago is that a senior person at a large Bible college (to whom we had sent, as I recall, a Doctor of Bibibiblical Studies, was listed as "Doctorate from Willard Fillmore Institute." I don't believe there was a competing "WFU" -- but the letters M and W look similar in Old English font. The poor shlub didn't even get the name of his alma mater right.
