Effective 1 January 2004 the Scarman Center for the Study of Public Order is no more at the venerable University of Leicester (pronounced "Lester") in England. The name is being changed to the "Department of Criminology". Sounds too generic!! haha. Scarman Centre News Centre To Change Its Name Following the successful outcome of both internal and external reviews of the Scarman Centre's work, the Centre is pleased to announce that, from 1st January 2004, it will change its name to the 'Department of Criminology'. The Centre feels that this new name will more accurately reflect its core teaching and research interests. Will stay tuned to see if there will be changes in the course offerings and course structure. I guess this means the name of the Alumni & Students' Association will also change........
