As you know CCHS is undergoing some major changes due to new management. I have completed six courses towards the M.S. in Health Sciences degree. Three of these have been psychology related. One of the changes will involve not allowing a student to pay per course. After January the student will have to enroll for the remainder of his/her program and have the tuition financed by a national student lending company. I am thinking this may end up being $300 per month as the remainder of my courses total about $3,000. Currently each course runs about $63 per month. Now, if it becomes unaffordable I have two options. SATS for a Th.M. or CCU for an M.S. in Psychology. My three CCHS courses will transfer. CCU may or may not become DETC accredited; SATS is accredited. What are your thoughts.

Hi Jimmy - I can't comment on your question as to where to go if you decide to change. However, I would suggest that you confirm what the student financing arrangements at CCHS will be. Several DETC schools, mine included, use Key Bank loans which often extend beyond the duration of the time in school - in some cases students can secure a 12 month deferral for a 1% increase in the interest rate, currently making those loans come in around 6.5%. Sorry I can't be of greater assistance, but I am a firm believer in making sure I have the facts straight and know that sometimes a well placed phone call can produce some unexpected results so I thought I would at least remind you to check out the facts! With so many changes going on, it could be that nothing is set in stone just yet. Good luck!

    Regards,
    Mary

I believe CCU accepts only 2 courses as transfers into their program and charges the same tuition for the complete program, which is around $ 4,000.

    Hello Mary,

Thanks for the reply. I have made several phone calls to CCHS and no one knows exactly what's going on at the moment. All that is know is that the National Loan Servicing Center will handle student accounts. I am not moving without the facts I am just making sure I have some options in place just in case...Again, thanks and good luck with your studies.

    Dennis,

You're correct about the total cost. However, according to Dr. Barcroft, with whom I spoke, I can transfer three courses.
