What are these? Are they useful for transfer credit to colleges? Education Direct in my nation claims that their programs are good for CEU. Do these units carry value?

Continuing Education Units (CEU) are usually used to give credit for activities that people take part in to keep up with advances in their fields, such as attending seminars, workshops, and short courses. They do not count toward degrees. However they might help if your are creating a portfolio for one of the universities that does portfolio evaluation, or they might help you pass one of the exams that carries college credit.

One contact hour equals one CEU.

They often count towards continuing education requirements that are needed to renew professional licenses, such as teaching, accounting, or engineering licenses. The requirements vary from state to state.
