  1. I've been looking all over for the book. I know it's been out of print, but if anyone has a copy they'd like to sell, please let me know.

    Thanks.

    Roscoe

P.S. Of course, in a perfect world, I'd get an autograped copy -- signed by Dr. Steve Levicoff.:)

  2. Surely someone has a copy they want to get rid of.:)

    What about it Russell?

  3. Thanks, Tom.

And congrats on your new book!

How many have you written now?

Sorry, Roscoe. I had a copy of the 4th Edition, purchased new in the early 90's, but as the data on many of the schools became outdated I discarded it. To second Tom's suggestion, inter-library loan may be an option.

I found a NIFI fourth edition (yellow cover) on BookFinder a few months ago, though I don't see any there at the moment. Keep looking; they turn up from time to time. (I even saw Where the TRACS Stop Short listed at one point.) If you'd just like to see a copy of NIFI in print--but don't really care if you own one--you might try interlibrary loan.

Street Smarts and Christian Counseling and the Law are pretty easy to find (if that's any consolation), and I actually picked up a cheap copy of the former to help with my background research on a book I'm writing for Facts On File (a guide to/history of religious freedom in America, for 5th-9th graders).

    Cheers,

Right now on www.bibliofind.com one can find a number of Dr. Levicoff's books. However, NIFI is not listed.

You're welcome! Sorry I couldn't be of more help; I'd offer you my copy, but I think I kind of need it for posterity's sake.
Counting all books where I'm flagged as author/an author, ten published and three more coming up: two with the Bears and an occasional Nixon (Get Your IT Degree and Get Ahead and Bears' Guide to the Best Education Degrees by Distance Learning), four Gale Group grade 5-7 Civil War readers (Confederate Generals, Slaves, Union Generals, and Women and Families), five Gale Group grade 9-12 readers on miscellaneous topics (The Bill of Rights, Mikhail Gorbachev, Mysterious Places, Possessions and Exorcisms, and 1966), the Facts On File Freedom of Religion title, and a collection of interviews with Carl Sagan edited for the University Press of Mississippi. Not counting the seven months I worked as a researcher for Ten Speed in late 2000/early 2001 (on Best Computer Degrees, the 8th edition of College Degrees by Mail and Internet, and the 14th edition of Bears' Guide) and the ten months I spent writing queries and proposals in mid 2001/early 2002, that works out to one book every eight weeks or so. As I focus on longer and more ambitious projects, my production rate will probably drop just a teensy bit.

I'm still nowhere near Levicoff territory, though--according to legend, he wrote Street Smarts in a long weekend.

    Cheers,

    Greetings from "Levicoff Territory"

I categorically deny this. It is a rumor started by godless communists, intended to discredit me to my wife, my children, their children, and their pets.*

I actually wrote Street Smarts in 30 days, not one weekend.
There is one project that I did write in one weekend - it was my master's thesis, An Analysis of State-Sponsored versus Student-Initiated Religious Expression in Public Education.

Anyway, not to mislead anyone, there was additional research time in all of these projects - doing the usual 3x5 cards for quotes, citations, etc. It was only the actual writing - throwing the ingredients together - that took me a short time.

I stopped revising NIFI after the 4th edition was published in 1995 - been there, done that. Today, of course, it is very out of date, so I recommend Christian Distance Education by occasional degreeinfo.com participant Jason Baker (no relation to Baker Book House, although they are alo his publisher). I don't remember Jason's web site addy, so if anyone has it, please post.
