Multi-part time bomb:child psychologist with fake Ph.D. accused of molesting children

This is a curious, and quite dreadful one.

A school psychologist in Pittsburgh, about to go on trial for child molestation, and who is claiming he was framed, turns out to have his Ph.D. from the totally phony Columbia State University.

Curious thing #1 is how he got his job. Did the Pittsburgh School Board do any checking at all? He seems to have had no other degrees when hired.

Curious thing #2 is that this person, Dr. Stettner, actually seems to have gotten an Ed.D. from the University of Pittsburgh five years after he bought his Ph.D. from Columbia State. One wonders both why he did so, and how he got into Pitt if indeed his only degree was a fake Ph.D.

There have been many stories in the Pittsburgh press (if you search for "Stettner" + Pittsburgh, you find them), but none so far has mentioned the fake doctorate.

 

Very sad and frightening...

 

This is another example of bureaucracy at its best. These stories are just the "tip" of the iceberg. It's obvious that municipal and state agencies are excellent employers for people with fake degrees.

What will it take before the authorities "wise up"?
