Plagiarism in South Africa

    UNISA have very strict guidelines on plagiarism. Term papers, assignments and manuscripts are carefully reviewed by faculty members for authenticity and content.

    However, I do agree that it is tempting for some who find it easy to download material and term papers from online sources.

    Sometimes I think you must be a South Efrican in disguise, Unc. Is this phrase used anywhere else?

    In exams in South Africa, it was the custom to place Afrikaans-speaking and English-speaking candidates in alternate desks, so that they couldn't copy from one another. One Afrikaans-speaking boy, when he didn't know the answer, would write something vague in Afrikaans, then add "or, as the English say," and copy a phrase from his neighbour.
