    Hello

We have created and just launched http://www.thesisabstracts.com for diploma, degree graduates and researchers ... and we would like to invite you to be part of this great and important initiative!

ThesisAbstracts.com is aimed to give the opportunity to everyone to publish his thesis, dissertation or paper abstracts on the internet - free of charge. This is an advantage to other students and researchers who may be interested in the same study area which you have covered. Besides, it will be a great honour and satisfaction that your work can be useful to other persons.

We would like to invite you to be part of this community and post your abstract on the website. If you need help to post your abstract or would like more information, please feel free to contact us. We would appreciate your cooperation and feedback. Instead, you may wish to send us the thesis abstract and details by email and we can post the abstract in your name.

Can you kindly forward this email to your friends or colleagues who you think might be interested in posting an abstract on ThesisAbstracts.com.

If we work together on this project, we will start building an online database of abstracts which will serve as a precious resource for the next generation of students and researchers. After all ... someone might make use of your idea, who knows?....you might make a fortune!!!!

    Many thanks

Hey, not that I really care, but is it odd that all four abstracts listed (as of Tues. 4:25 pm) had some connection to Malta? Just wondering.

We are based in Malta and in the last few days we sent a few emails for testing locally and those were the first abstracts being submitted.

We are hoping to lauch the website officially to the whole internet by 1st October 2003 and in the meantime we are making efforts to collect as much abstracts as possible from all over the world. The response has been very wonderful and this is encouraging to us.

However posting an abstract is not straight forward because, you have to open all those drawers to look for the CD, then load it and start playing with the copy and paste option.

We have tried to make it as easy as possible and if you have looked at the submission form, you might have noticed this.

We have been lucky to find a sponsor to create and design the website and we do not need to charge any fees for posting and searching.

In the mean time, we will be soon be looking for special editors who take care a particular section ... if someone is interested, please feel free to contact me or use the contact form.

Hope I answered your questions and waiting to see some of your abstracts on the website.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Mr. Micaleff and his colleagues will do if and when people start posting either (a) fake abstracts, or (b) abstracts ostensibly from work at fake schools.

I find it quite upsetting that one of the notices or advertisements on the site right now is for a service called "Original Thesis Writing, Inc.," offered by "the senior faculty member at Rochville University," (a diploma mill, already clearly identified as such on this forum by Bill Gossett), which will do all the research for you, and write your thesis, for a mere $20 a page ($15 if you order right away).

So if I hire this retired professor from a phony university to write my Ph.D. dissertation, can I then post the abstract on the Thesis Abstracts site?

    Hi John Bear

We have got editors (who have at least a degree) in the subject of each category who will filter all the abstracts coming in... registration requires authorisation to be instered in the website Faking abstacts will not help anyone. Did you notice something irregular in the abstracts which are online?

As regards to the advert, those are google ads which gets generated differently each time you change the page. Someone we have to get some funding .. the article software alone costs $299 then you have to add the design. All editors are volunteers who are willing to help in this initiative.

We are Maltese and we believe in high standards in everything we do ..

Besides, after you post an abstract, you can always ask us to remove it from the website.

    Thanks for your comments.

Thank you for your prompt and reasoned response. I'd hate to make a Maltese cross. I'll redirect my annoyance to Google (which, although started by Stanford graduate students, is doing a lot of harm to higher education through their advertising policies.

I was only suggesting that your people will have to make some complex and possibly controversial decisions on what schools to accept. Would you, for instance, accept an abstract from (to name three very popular degrees whose holders crave the kind of respectability you can offer):

    1. Kennedy-Western University?
    2. Saint Regis University?
    3. Harrington University?

None of our editorial team is really knowledegable about US Universities and one of my priorities is to find volunteers to help out in this initiative. We wish to keep a certain level of professionality.

However at the moment, after we launched it 2 days ago, we have still not received many abstracts and this is a pity. We will be on the local newspapers on Friday and this might help to start moving. Students to get a draw back because the website is still empty.

Fingers crossed, two/three days are still too little to judge :)

Anyway, you might wish to post your abstract.

    Thanks
