Just wanted to share the good news. The Church Growth Institute, a small publisher in Maryland, has offered to publish my book, "Writing for Souls: A Guide for Christian Writers and Ministers on How to Reach Thousands of People for Christ by Writing and Publishing Gospel Tracts." The title will likely be changed, according to the editor, and the book could be out within six months to a year. As some of you are aware, I once considered doing a Th.D. in Missions through Univ. of Zululand and a Ph.D. through another school. Initially, I wanted to do research on the ministry of tract evangelism. But I decided against it, choosing instead to pursue a secular degree. And instead of working on a second doc, I thought I'd follow Dr. Bear's example by using that time and resources to publish. One doc is good enough (once I have it). So I turned my research on gospel tracts into a how-to manuscript for a non-academic audience. It was rejected by a number of publishers before being accepted by CGI. I probably won't get any academic points for taking this route, but it is fulfilling in its own way. Thanks to DegreeInfo for giving me the inspiration. Roscoe
Congrats, Roscoe! A preacher was sitting in his armchair, writing a sermon. His little daughter watched him for a while, and then asked, "Daddy, does God tell you what to write?" "Yes," he replied. "Then why do you keep crossing out bits?"
Hi Roscoe: Good news! I am decidedly not a fan of the Church Growth movement, but I'm delighted at your achievement. Thanks again for your earlier help to me in another matter. Best wishes, Janko
