anyone know of a MSW (masters in social work) that is totally DL, or with very short residencies? thanks,

The best answer that I can give is "maybe." What I mean is that you might be able to get a 100% non-residential MSW from some school in England, Australia or South Africa (there are none in the US) but the question is, once you've got that degree, what is it good for. Without a set of clinical internships you'll never qualify for licensure anywhere in the US. So, it depends on how you hope to use the degree (doing therapy?), where you hope to use the degree (in the US?) whether it makes any sense to pursue this idea. Personally, I don't think it's workable but if you want to take the next steps then check out:
    Charles Sturt U
    James Cook U
    U of Kent at Canterbury
    U of Melbourne
and lets not forget the perennial favorite,
    UNISA
Also, check with your state licensing board to find out what they might think of the idea.
    Good luck,
    Jack

    Hi Howard,

I contacted Univesity of New England (total DL). The school is located in ME. There is NO residency at all. You only get one course per semseter. However, it is pricey. At present, I do not remember but it was away 28-29 k a year (two year program). One requirement is to do a 5 page letter, 10 point font, double space mergeing the schools mission statement into your goals and/or understanding.

They are a private school and any reviews are none on other search sites. However, if I can't locate any other MSW program, I might end up signing up myself.

    Hope this helps.

According to one poster Indira Gandhi National Open University has a DL MSW that will allow you to sit for the Social Work exam. I have tried to contact IGNOU via email but with no success. I also emailed the OP but have not received a reply. If anyone has a contact to IGNOU I would very much like to have it. I have checked all the US schools - they are out of my price range. All the Aussie and SA schools will not pass muster to sit for the exam, this makes a degree from them rather useless.
