I would like to thank all of those that responded to my thread on 8-28. I received some VERY helpful info. So, I'm back for more.

I'm located in Oregon, so I am aware of the programs accepted and not accepted, and have requested an am exploring the following:

Walden MS in Psych (visitation requirements)$15K+
Cal State u MA in Behavioral Science on online $8K
Capella MS SW (directed vs online?)(visit requirements)$16K +
Concordia (not really sure about this one)

All about the same length of time. I do social work, public & private agencies. How far would the MA in Beh Sci get me in my field. I work with children, teenagers and adults. It intrigues me with the subject matter (also the $) however, I can not afford to make a mistake on this one.

You may want to look at the University of West Alabama
MSCE Counseling/Psychology at $250 per credit hour ($8,250).

Since the University of West Alabama is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and its College of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, you do not have to worry of being apprehended for using its degree in Oregon.

It's not clear what your career goals might be. Are you saying that you want to be a Clinician? If so then the first thing you should do is contact the Oregon State Board of Licensing (or whatever they call it there) and find out the requirements. Otherwise, you could earn a legitimate degree that still won't get you where you want to go. Good luck,

    agree with last post, goals?

The last post poses a great question. What are your goals?
Are you looking at a requirement for job advancement within a company that states one must have a masters degree? any masters degree will do?
or are you lookingat becoming a clinician?
If you are looking at the clinician goal, then you need to meet the requirements for the license in your state. The requirements will vary for a LSW, LMHC, LPsy, etc.
Most often the state licensing requires professional approval, APA for LPsy, SW or SW etc. Most require some sort of internship within the masters program. Most require post masters clinical supervision.
If you are looking for a masters solely for personal interest, you could get the reading list for a program and read the books?
    All the best!

    As an afterthought...
Some of the larger Human Service agencies have finally begun to wake up and realize that their most senior clinicians (who get promoted up the ladder, or burn out of their clinical jobs) do not always make the best business managers. Human Service agencies are currently faced with huge budgetary problems and frequently the managers, who may have been great clinicians, don't know anything about financial matters, fundraising, etc. The most unheralded Human Service worker is the one who keeps the programs financially sound. With this in mind it's possible that you may want to consider an MBA or MPA degree. Again, good luck.

If you are looking for licensure the Masters in Behavior Science will be worthless. If you are, what do you want to do: link services (Masters in Social Work) or perform therapy (Masters in Psychology or Counseling). If you are looking for a counseling masters I would recommend either Liberty or Fort Hayes State University. Good Luck.

    Howard sounds on the money

Howard seems to have nailed it. I don't see how a M. Behavioral would help.
I am a L. Clinical Mental Health Counselor. it is OK. But fields are so specialized that a LCMHC does not count as a MSw or as a MPSY. (or for that matter as a M.Guidance). It may not count as a M. Rehab.
I have to come back to the goal. Is the poster looking at promotion to a job in a state like organization that simply requires any masters degree? or is the goal clinical in nature?
    All the best!
