I have a friend who is short on money and on time, but she needs a bachelors in the health care field. She has an Associates in nursing. What are the top three schools that you would recommend to her to obtain a bachelors in the health care field via DL? She would prefer a BSN, that will probably be impractical, so the second best choice is something in the health care field. Note: Her husband is disabled from heart surgery and she is working full-time to support him. That is why she is short on money and time.
Excelsior offers several nursing programs, including RN to BS(n), open to students who have an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college. See http://www.excelsior.edu/nur_home.htm for more info.
Bellevue University has an accelerated degree completion program for a Bachelor in Health Care Administration. Clarkson College has several degree completion programs in the health field including a Bachelor in Health Related Business. Lynn University offers a Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) with a major in Health Care Administration that recognizes the academic value of professional work experience and permits adult learners to earn up to thirty (30 credits) through portfolio validation. Mountain State University offers both a Bachelor in Health Care Management and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN Pathway). Charter Oak College allows for a concentration in Human Services/Health Studies, but not Nursing. St. Joseph’s College of Maine online offerings include a Bachelor of Science degrees in Health Care Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Long-Term Care Administration, and Bachelor of Science in Professional Arts - Health Care Concentration. Thomas Edison State College also offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN Program), in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services (BSHS). Touro University has a degree completion program leading to a B.S. in Health Sciences. The University of Northwestern Ohio offers a degree conmpletion program for a Baccalaureate degree in Health Care Administration. Like The University of the Incarnate Word whose online offerings includes a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Sciences, many other institutions will allow for individualized majors that could take advantage of the nursing degree.
There are quite a few AA to BSN programs available by DL as folk have noted. Which given the dearth in nursing seems like a timely decision. That is to say, there is more need for floor nurses than adminstrators at this point. One thought that crossed my mind is that if your friend is a licensed RN and if she is located anywhere near a veteran's facility the VA offers a very generous tuition reimbursement program in the service of recruiting and retaining RNs.
Add to the list: California College for Health Sciences Franklin University (Ohio) University of Central Florida University of St. Francis (Illinois) All are BA programs in Health Care. Good luck, Jack
Re: Re: DL Bachelors in Health Care Field: Help Probably because the US Government will no longer promote Associate Degreed Nurses in any of its facilities. Have you looked at California State University at Dom. Hills? Looks like a good option from AA to BS.
