I just wanted to let anyone interested in CalSouthern's PsyD program know that I just began my first class and would be glad to answer any questions. Leave questions below and I will do my best to answer them.

Several goals: more training and education, marketability have a doctoral degree, having accomplished my goal of getting a doctorate. I don't believe having a PsyD is mislead at at. I know PsyD's that went to non clinical programs. Someone may assume they are licensed psychologists but a simple explanation clears that up. You are assuming most clients are going to be aware of what PsyD stands for. Most clients don't know what LCSW stands for. I explain everything up front so I do see how I can mislead anyone. If they think I am a psychologist, they will know in the first five minutes of the conversation I am not and they can choose to seek psychologist if that is what they want. I have had many patients think I am a psychologist just because I practice psychotherapy. People will assume many things and it is our job to be transparent with them. I have never had a patient that wanted a psychologist over an LCSW. They don't care. There are some PsyD programs that are Doctor of Psychoanalysis. Obviously, these individuals are not psychologists but they have the letters PsyD after their name.

Congratulations and good luck. What do the requirements look like (reading, research papers and number of pages, number of exams). What sort of schedule are you setting for completion of each course.

Thanks for offering to answer questions.

I tried to PM as well as ask the question here but our new Cal Southern PsyD student either does not want to answer, is too busy studying or something else came up. I suppose I could always call the school.
