For a student in California, I'm looking for the cheapest CEPH accredited online Certificate in Public Health. When I state REAL, I mean one that uses substantially the same courses as the MPH, just about half of them for the certificate.

I know there are lots free and low cost certificates in public health online (I've taken lots of them) but this student is looking for the REAL THING, one that's about half an MPH.

University of West Florida has what your looking for, they are CEPH accredited as I recall. Out of State tuition won't be cheap, but some of the Certs are only 3 classes. Certificates | University of West Florida

Might be a tuition waiver available http://uwf.edu/online/we-are-affordable/waiver-info/

I considered them for just the reason you state...I wanted at least most of the certificate it to count toward a MPH if I chose later. The EM option looks particularly attractive to me.

Thanks but all of these are prohibitively expensive, at least of out-of-state students.

U of Minn - PH Core Concepts Cert

Certificates & Licensure - School of Public Health

Okay I know you're heard me speak about U of Minn..it's not cheap @ just under $900/unit (distance learners pay in-state cost) but I find it to be a good program so far. The Public Health Core Concepts is 14 units (so roughly $12,600 total) covering the basics with bio-stats, epid, enviro, admin and policy. Classes are live lectures (WebEx) so you can interactive live if desired (or sometimes required..I have to present and lead a discussion in two of my classes). Also they are recorded for offline viewing and posted usually same day. Also on the U of Minn site are course syllabi from previous semester....gives you a good idea of how assignments and exams are administered.

Advantage again is finish the cert and then you have the option to continue on with a MPH if desired.

You can find many by searching the "free online courses" thread in the General forum.

A program that looks good but I have not tried is: Empire State Public Health Training Center 100% FREE

Thanks. Just what we were looking for!

I don't exactly understand the fee waiver though and I've sent three emails without a response.

I have scrolled through the list of courses that you linked. I did not even see a single course in Public Health and certainly not a DL certificate program.
