    Hi all,

First - let me thank you in advance for your help.

Second - the facts. I am currently a clinician with an MSW. I enjoy early years/assessment/attachment clinical work. I don't get as excited about therapy but it's ok. I'm looking to learn more and interested in doctoral studies - something in the developmental psych/early childhood realm. Social work would be ok but few of the doctoral programmes are clinical; they tend to the administrative or international development. Cool but not what I'm after.

I also can't do one of the schools like Capella or Walden which appear to be somewhat mocked in my field (I'm not judging the quality, just reporting an observation).

Third - finances are an issue. Fielding won't work for me because of the way the fees are structured. I could never take enough classes in a semester to make it worth the cost.

Fourth - because of my current credentials, I am able to work in my field. It would be nice to be an R.Psych eventually but it's not the end all, be all. I also could, possibly, down the road re-specialize as clinical psych if needed.

Fifth - I was looking at schools from UNISA to Lund in Sweden but am not sure if I'm just missing it or if there just isn't anything that matches what I'm seeking in the distance learning world.

Six - thanks again. I'm not sure what pertinent facts I've missed but I'm sure there's something. I have no idea if there is anyone who has any ideas of a programme that might fit but after too many hours searching, I thought I should put it out here.

As a Fielding student I can tell you there is a skew towards work with adults. But as a social worker you might find the following Ph.D. program interesting. They have a child/school/developmental track.

Institute for Clinical Social Work - Ph.D. Program

Thanks very much. I have looked at their programmes. For me the problem is similar to Fieldings - which is the fee structure. I'm hoping for a school where I can pay per course rather than per semester. When I last looked at them, they had a semester based fee structure.

Thanks for trying. That's definitely the academic area I'm looking in.

I double checked - they also have fairly frequent attendance requirements. I can do an intensive but would struggle with two weekends per month in Chicago (I'm on the West Coast).

    Thanks again.

I did think about Cal Southern but was worried about them not been rigorous. I'd love to hear from people who have been there. A search didn't turn up much.

Thanks rmm0484. While that thread was a good read, it's not the question I have. I already have an MSW and know the value of it :) I'm looking to grow beyond it at this point (either PhD or PsyD.) and realized I do hope that I could end up registered here, even if it means re-specialization after.
