A possible DE/online PhD in Behavioral Analysis

Akershus University College in Norway has a PhD in Behavioral Analysis (Høgskolen i Akershus - PhD program in Behavioral Analysis) that allows students to take the educational portion from UNT's online Behavioral Analysis program (Behavior Analysis Online Courses). It's in English, and might be funded by the university since there seems to be no information about tuition or fees on Akershus' website (if anyone has any information on this, it would be helpful).

Distance Education is not directly addressed, but the "Internationalization" paragraph makes it seem possible (also see identified "partner institutions").

Although the PhD requires only educational 3 courses to be taken, it seems as though a student would be able to continue the UNT courses and work toward certification as a Behavioral Analyst and work on the PhD simultaneously. See the BACB's certification requirements here.

Thoughts? Does anyone have any information about studying in Norway?

 

Semester Fee

Ok, so I found information about the semester fee. According to the University's website, the total semester fee is 630 NOK... which according to Google is $116!

It sounds interesting, but it probably isn't doable for those of us without an MA or MS. Have you (or has anyone else) heard of similar programs at the MS level?

 

You can be a BCaBA (Board Certified associate Behavioral Analyst) with a BA or BS. The job is the same as a BCBA, as is the certification process, except that after certification you need to work under the supervision of a graduate-level Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

If you only had a BA or BS, yes, this PhD program would not matter to you... but UNT's online ABA certificate could. Also, there are a number of people on this message board enrolled in and graduated from masters degree programs who might fit the requirements for the PhD program.

 

Hey, this looks great! I have a MA in Psychology and a second MA in Counseling as well as the PhD in Counseling; I may just give this degree a try. If you find additional detals please let me know. Thanks for a great find.

 

No problem! I am on the look now for how foreign students are able to study in Norway. Are there any tests that we need to take? A governmental application process? Et cetera.

Has anyone had a chance to learn more about this since it was first posted about? Now that I am nearing the end of my masters, I would like to get more serious about this... but the website has been redone, and I can't find ANYTHING in English about the PhD in Behavior Analysis. The google cache from the old website it still up, but none of the links on it work.

 

Pretty sure there's one coming out of one of the big Florida schools. (flipping pages furiously) I'll have to get back to you on that.

 

UNT has an online certificate program in Applied Behavioral Analysis.
